Hi, everyone)). I hope you're doing well. This is an entry I was looking forward to writing for a few days now, and finally got down to it.
As we all know, every task that requires any form of effort (which is, in fact, EVERY task) has its own set of difficulties that tags along with it, no matter if we like that or not. So, I wanted to address some of the struggles I, as well as probably some of you, have come across while blogging this far. BUT, I feel like anyone can just sit down and share a few of their difficulties, therefore, I decided to also include the solutions that have worked for me in my attempts to overcome them. Right, let's get to the point :).
The struggle: Loss of motivation to write. As you may have noticed, I haven't been updating my blog as much as I did in my first two weeks of maintaining it, and that is due to the excitement and motivation to do so slowly dying down. Personally, this is one of my least favourite 'side-effects' of absolutely any activity, but it also appears to be an especially common one.
My solution: Start. I know, sounds very ridiculously simple, but I found that when I glitch on my writing, all it takes is a little kick start, and momentum does the rest. In other words, if you can't seem to write a blog entry, I suggest you do some minimal task that falls into or relates to it in some way. Chances are, that'll provide your motivation with a much needed spark, and before you realise it, your hands will be itching to write again.
The struggle: Not knowing/not having anything to write about. Sometimes, it just hits me that I don't have any ideas about what to write about next. This one can be patricularly frustrating since you might be in the mood to write, but suddenly realise that your imagination is hollow.
My solution: Make it mundane. No, I don't mean make the actual piece of writing boring, but pick an everyday sujbect to write about. I find that when I start writing about something I have gained a decent amount of knowledge on, the right words magically seem to come to me.
Some ideas I have come up with are:
-Write about your day.
- Write about your thoughts/opinions.
- Maybe a movie/series/documentary you watched or a book you read.
- The activities you thoroughly enjoy engaging in.
- Your pets. For this one, pictures aren't a bonus to underestimate:).
The struggle: Feeling like you don't have time to write. Now, for me personally, I know that in reality I have more than enough time to blog on a daily basis, but I have this bad habit of setting the task aside 'for later'. And yes you guessed it,the later doesn't seem to enjoy making an appearance all too often.
The solution: I think this one is fairly obvious, but I'll pin it here anyways; designate certain times for writing, and writing only. As an example, I know that I enjoy writing in the evenings after I got for my runs, so that's when I focus on my blog (fun fact: this is exactly the case at this very moment :)).
I really hope these were at least to some degree helpful. What is the biggest struggle you have faced while blogging? Have a nice day/evening/night, everyone :)).

Its very nice to know that someone else is facing this struggle as well. Thank you for sharing! And for me, it's the motivation and sometimes the writer's block. And idk about you, sometimes the feeling of determination to prove myself gets too overwhelming and I just give up for a night or two... Or three.
ReplyDeleteMy solution is nothing but pure will at this point. I don't really have a stable solution.
:'))
Goodness, yes. I sometimes need to take a few days off too. It can indeed be pretty exhausting, but I think that that just enhances the true beauty of it).
DeleteIndeed. Btw I like the new set up for the blog! It looks nice and sleek.
DeleteLoved and agree with all of this! You've inspired me to designate my time after going on a walk to write every day- what a perfect idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that! Good luck with your writing)).
Deletethis is such a honest but true post! so helpful and i agree! definitely going to use the pet post idea!
ReplyDeleteVery happy that it was some help. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming posts)).

ReplyDeleteA very relatable blogpost, I face many of the same problems, and yes, my blog has several month long post gaps due to thinking that I'll do it later, and the "later" never coming. I usually try to justify not writing with my horrid spelling, or with not finding the "perfect" topic, but it almost always is due to my procrastination.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment). 'Horrid spelling' sounds very relatable to me, due to the countless typos I am overly prone to making. I'll have a read of your blog)).
DeleteThis is really helpful and something that I really needed!! Thank you❤️
