A Trip to Koh Larn

Originally, I was planning to call this post 'The Invasion of Koh Larn', but I decided to have mercy on the FBI agent who was assigned to keep an eye on me through my laptop camera.

 Right, so Koh Larn is one of the many islands just off the shore of mainland Thailand, which, depending where in Thailand you are, you can visit via a quick boat, ferry (or sometimes plane) ride. And that's exactly what a friend of mine and I did just the day before yesterday (Thursday, 18th).



I would say the idea was more or less spontaneuos and we brought it into reality rather swiftly. The only thing we were worried about before setting off was THE RAIN. I remember mentioning in one of my prior blogs that we have officially entered the rainy season, so for a while now it was been raining on a very regular basis (just about every day, multiple times a day). Luckily, the universe decided to be on our side on Thursday, and after a small drizzle in the morning, spared the bad weather of the rest of the day. The only downside to the exceptionally good weather is that I am quite badly sunburnt as I type this, but it was so worth it.



The two of us hopped on the ferry at 11am and arrived at the island 40 minutes later. Once there, what followed was a lot of swimming in the exemplarily clear water, walking along the entire beach (plus, for whatever reason, chosing to swim most of the way back), talking, laughing, dodging the people who were constantly offering everyone 'banana boat' rides, and a general lot of fun.



We hopped on the ferry back at 3pm, feeling accomplished and slightly exhausted. Nevertheless, we already have a few potential plans of a similar kind made for the future :).

    That sounds so much fun!

    Oh, islands. Islands, islands, islands. My family went through a phase a couple years back where we kept having vacation on islands. Personally, it was alright. I'm quite pale and get sunburn easily rip. Got sick of it after a while😂 But it was fun nonetheless. I loved riding speedboats and that one time we rode a banana boat. I can't believe you didn't accept the offers! It's extremely fun (if you like speed), and you have the option of getting thrown into the water. Its way more fun than it sounds I swear.

      It is indeed a R.I.P for sunburned for me too. The reason why we didn't accept the banana boat offers is because they were awfully overpriced and targeted towards tourists). Your comment made me realise that I've never actually been on a banana boat! I'm glad you have so many positive experiences to look back on))).

Happy Songkran!

Hello, welcome back)). Let's breifly summarise the weekend, shall we? :) On Saturday morning I wokeup with very sore legs, which was the expected result of a 1,000 suqat challenge I impulsively decided to do on Friday evening. Yes, you read that right, 1,000 squats, which absolutely destroyed me. Needless to say, I have been forced to make quite the effort to wobble around for the past three days. I baked some nice cookies on Saturday, which got a very good laugh from one specific person who claimed they looked like horse droppings. Read of the week (#1)

Welcome to the first part of this segment I decided to create)). I decided that every week I will recommend you a short story which I found interesting, since I tend to read a lot of those. This week's 'Story of the week', if you wish, is 'When It Happens ' by Margaret Atwood. The story is written in a third-person narrative, and follows a fifty-one-year-old lady called Mrs. Burridge. Mrs. Burridge has a very fatalistic outlook on life and imagines, in astonishing detail, situations that she thinks are bound to happen sooner or later. She is a practical and realistic character, and thinks through every imaginable aspect of her future predications. One of these apocalyptic-like situations is described in the story.
