A Memorable Kind of Birthday

Guess who's back?! Finally, am I right? Goodness I've been slacking. So, a memorable birthday, what's that all about?

Before I get started on the actual day, I will mention a little snippet of the day before, or more specifically, the afternoon before. Since the virus has been more or less overcome where I am right now, I've finally been able to see a few of my friends again (however, while obviously still being very careful). So, on the afternoon of the 3rd, I had two of my fellow 'professional bakers' over to help me make a cake. After spilling egg on the counter, breaking the measuring cup and loads of mocking and laughter, we had success in the form of a slightly funny-tasting chocolate cake. Sadly, I don't have any photos of our lovely creation.

Right then, let's fast forward to the following day :). For the first time ever, I was woken up by a call at midnight with the person on the other end being even more excited than me, because of me picking up exactly as it hit 00:00. After that, I got woken up a second time at a little past 5am by a long text from my night-owl friend. After  safethat, I was safe from further surprise wishes until I was fully awake a few hours later.

The day flew by until there was only a matter of minutes left until three of my closest friends were due to arrive. NOW THAT is when I got very restless and was just about counting down the seconds before I heard the first knock on my door.

Some beautiful flowers and aromatic petels I received :)

Goodness, I don't even know where to begin from here. The presents I received were extraordinary and the company of my favourite people made the evening all the more special.

We had a quick swim in a very pungent chlorine pool and had dinner. After that, the real fun began. There is almost too much too remember, and therefore way too much to relay to you, but what I can say for definite, is that I had the absolute best birthday. Even after 5 days, it is still all I can think about.

I feel extremely greatful for the fact that, unlike a lot of people, I was able to celebrate my birthday in the company of three of the best people I know. And I feel even more greatful to have those three people as my trusted companions (who are very likely to have a little friendly cringe at this bit when they read this entry). Turns out, all you really need to be happy is a random day, and the people closest to you to add a few bright sparks to it :)

And that's us)). It only just caught my attention that we subconsciously lined up in order of height.

  1. Omg you're back! I'm sure that I can say for a lot of people that: We miss you :D

Happy belated birthday! It's so lucky to celebrate it with friends, sometimes they are all you need. Btw, for the second last picture, your friend (or is that you?) Is kind of transparent for a moment BSJSGXH idk what's up maybe you guys are secretly superhumans but that was just a funny thing I wanted to pointed out.

Lovely entry. Happy belated birthday again and welcome back!

After the pandemic

Good morning; good afternoon; good evening. As you may have guessed by the title, my aim for this entry is to share with you what I hope to do after the coronavirus subsides enough for things to get back to normal. More or less. Just so I don’t forget, if you have a minute or two to spare, leave a comment about some things you would consider doing yourself. It’d be interesting to see what motivates different people to keep hanging on during this disaster. 1. First of all, I will go visit the local dog shelter. I’ve been there a handful of times, with different friends of mine, so I think that my first visit after the virus should be made alone. You know, for the sake of contrast :) 2. I will definitely meet up with people, especially people I didn’t have the chance to catch up with before the situation started escalating. Of course, I can engage in conversations over text or call, video call, even, however, as you are aware, nothing beats meeting in person. 3. I’ll go to...

All about the doggies

Hello, dear readers)). I hope everyone's doing okay. This long awaited (by me) entry is going to be about the dog shelter I mentioned in one of my previous posts: https://mybluggles.blogspot.com/2020/03/after-pandemic.html?m=1 First of all, I'd like to point out the fact that I'm afraid of dogs. People don't believe me when I tell them (especially since I tend to go about petting every single doggie in my sight), but I can assure you I am. Trust me on this. Regardless of that unhandy fear, I have spent the past few months paying visits to volunteer at a dog shelter in my city. I first found out about the shelter when a good friend of mine offered to take me there with her for a day of volunteering. I agreed without any hesitation, because the idea appealed to me quite a bit. Now, I was warned that it would be noisy at the shelter, but no warning could have prepared me for the amount of noise you experience every time you set foot inside. To give you a slightly bet...

Running with a face mask

Good morning; good afternoon; good evening. I hope you have/had a wonderful day :)). This evening I dragged myself out of the house to go for a nice run. Unfortunately, it is now illegal to leave your house without a face mask on, so I had to go running in mine. Being a forgetful idiot, I forgot to get a picture of it before I chucked it into the washing machine, so my bad :| Running with a face mask on really isn’t great. The first and biggest issue is that the mask restricts your breathing making it harder to keep in steady. Yes, that may be good for cardio, but I would rather prefer to breathe normally, thank you very much. Secondly, your face sweats a lot underneath the mask. Not only that, but to make matters worse, my mask was also drenched in sweat by the time I was done with my run. And lastly, for me personally, it was quite difficult to catch my breath after I finished the run. It took me a few minutes, and eventually I had to retreat to taking the mask off. The only po...
