Many Happy Returns

Hello :). Goodness, I've disappeared again. This time, however, my disappearance was rather eventful.  Over the past few weeks, a couple of significant to me events have taken place. First and foremost, three of my lovely friends and I have finally returned to volunteer at our local dog shelter. This specific shelter holds value to me, and this is why it was on the top of my list of things I made that I wanted to do after the pandemic was more or less over ( https://mybluggles.blogspot.com/2020/ 03 / after-pandemic.html ) Another fulfilling thing I did just yesterday was paying a visit to one of my local charities. Despite having to take an enormous detour due to road works, I had a very enjoyable time helping pack bags of food to give to the hungry around the city. I am planning to write a post specifically dedicated to this amazing charity some time in the near future, since I will be paying them an ample amount of visits :). The image is actually completely unrelated, but these...

A Trip to Koh Larn

Originally, I was planning to call this post 'The Invasion of Koh Larn', but I decided to have mercy on the FBI agent who was assigned to keep an eye on me through my laptop camera. Right, so Koh Larn is one of the many islands just off the shore of mainland Thailand, which, depending where in Thailand you are, you can visit via a quick boat, ferry (or sometimes plane) ride. And that's exactly what a friend of mine and I did just the day before yesterday (Thursday, 18th). I would say the idea was more or less spontaneuos and we brought it into reality rather swiftly. The only thing we were worried about before setting off was THE RAIN. I remember mentioning in one of my prior blogs that we have officially entered the rainy season, so for a while now it was been raining on a very regular basis (just about every day, multiple times a day). Luckily, the universe decided to be on our side on Thursday, and after a small drizzle in the morning, spared the bad weather of...

A Memorable Kind of Birthday

Guess who's back?! Finally, am I right? Goodness I've been slacking. So, a memorable birthday, what's that all about? Before I get started on the actual day, I will mention a little snippet of the day before, or more specifically, the afternoon before. Since the virus has been more or less overcome where I am right now, I've finally been able to see a few of my friends again (however, while obviously still being very careful). So, on the afternoon of the 3rd, I had two of my fellow 'professional bakers' over to help me make a cake. After spilling egg on the counter, breaking the measuring cup and loads of mocking and laughter, we had success in the form of a slightly funny-tasting chocolate cake. Sadly, I don't have any photos of our lovely creation. Right then, let's fast forward to the following day :). For the first time ever, I was woken up by a call at midnight with the person on the other end being even more excited than me, because of...

Some Positive Occurrences

Hello, welcome back :)). And of course, May the 4th be with you! :) I think this post is pretty self-explanatory; I'll be listing down some of the pleasant stuff that has taken place lately)). 1.)  I've reached a pretty decent, and somewhat unprecedented new height at baking. Or to put it simpler, I decided to challenge myself and have managed to make some nice croissants from scratch. I would have never thought that I'd be able to add this onto my list of things that I occasionally ever so slightly brag about, but here we are :). 2.)  I have FINALLY , and I will emphasise this further, FINALLY  read 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell. For years it has been THE book almost everyone automatically assumed I had read (since I enjoy my classics), and I had to go through the embarrassment of admitting that I hadn't. Honestly, I think this is the accomplishment on this list that I am most proud of. For anyone who hasn't read the book, I really recommend it. ...

The real 'Bluggles'

Hi, everyone)). I hope you're doing well. This is an entry I was looking forward to writing for a few days now, and finally got down to it.  As we all know, every task that requires any form of effort (which is, in fact, EVERY task) has its own set of difficulties that tags along with it, no matter if we like that or not. So, I wanted to address some of the struggles I, as well as probably some of you, have come across while blogging this far. BUT, I feel like anyone can just sit down and share a few of their difficulties, therefore, I decided to also include the solutions that have worked for me in my attempts to overcome them. Right, let's get to the point :). The struggle:  Loss of motivation to write. As you may have noticed, I haven't been updating my blog as much as I did in my first two weeks of maintaining it, and that is due to the excitement and motivation to do so slowly dying down. Personally, this is one of my least favourite 'side-effects' of absol...

Read of the week (#3)

And we're back on track with the short stories)). The story that I will recommend for you today, is 'The Gift of the Magi' by O. Henry. This is actually a story I read quite a while back, and just so happened to remember about it today and search it up for a reread. Honestly, I think this is one of those stories that is widely-read for a reason, and that everyone should give it a read at least once. The sky looked exceptionally beautiful today, so I had to snap a photo :) The story has a very nice ending, which puts a smile on my face every time I think about it. Also, I noticed that I tend to subconsciously go for stories that contain plot twists. Have you ever noticed a trend in   what you read? You can very conveniently read the story here:  http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/GifMag.shtml

Titled Untitled (#2)

Hi, everyone)). How are you? :) My apologies for not writing for a few days. Good news is, a few things have accumulated over this little break, which I can tell you all about now)). First of all, I'm like to address the missing 'Read of the week'. Last week I focused on reading novels, and didn't think I had a good enough short story to share with you. This week, however, look out for a nice short story). Next up is the weather. Remember how I got quite excited about the rainy season having finally started? Well, the weather decided to pull our leg, and instead of there being rain, it now seems like it was even hotter than in was before. I am quite disappointed about that, although I know that sooner or later the rainy season will eventually come around. A pretty photo I took of the sunset the other day :) I've been trying my best to keep active and either go for a run or do sets of exercises and stretches at home, and I'm happy to report that that...
